2021 Fall Speaker – Rosetta Lee

The Parents Council of Washington is pleased to welcome Rosetta Eun Ryong Lee, Outreach Specialist at Seattle Girls' School and a highly-regarded expert of diversity, inclusion, and equity issues, to discuss connection to self and with others.  Since 2004, Rosetta has been a diversity speaker and trainer on a variety of topics, including cross-cultural communication, identity development, implicit and unconscious bias, gender and sexuality diversity, facilitation skills, and bullying in schools. Time for Q&A will be provided after the presentation.

2021 Winter Speakers – Dr. Chris Thurber and Dr. Hendrie Weisinger

2022 Movie Screening – “The Upstanders”

The Upstanders, an iNDIEFLIX original documentary about resilience and the power of connection to end bullying, addresses the multiple facets of cyber-bullying including bully, victim, bystander, and family member. Remote learning and socializing due to COVID-19 has increased screen time for children while also significantly increasing circumstances of cyber-bullying. Changing human behavior and connection is key to providing bystanders the tools and confidence to "change the narrative" to eradicate cyber-bullying. 2022 Upper School Student Leader Breakfast

The Upper School Leader Breakfast is a moderated, open, and confidential program for member school juniors and seniors. Each school is invited to select two student leaders to represent their school’s perspective and to speak on issues facing students, such as time management, risk taking behavior, relationships, the power of schools beyond their borders, academic integrity/cheating, stress, and regulating student speech. 2022 Middle School Student Leader Breakfast

The Middle School Student Leader Breakfast presents an opportunity for today’s youngest teens to join together to discuss issues of importance to them. Member schools are invited to send two seventh graders for breakfast and self-directed conversation in both large and small group contexts. Conversation can explore issues such as social status, self-image, stress, technology, communication with family and teachers and social media, among other topics.
